light and collided with a big rig in san francisco's hayes valley neighborhood. it happened last thursday. mack was ejected from the shuttle bus and pinned underneath that big rig. ucsf will install seat belts by the end of august. >>> a bicyclist struck by a food truck has died. the violent collision in the city's south of market neighborhood, nancy hoe made an illegal street on fremont street in front of the food delivery truck. ho was not wearing a helmet and suffered a critical head injury. she was pronounced dead last night. >>> tonight at 6:00, our first look at two suspects charged with killing a woman, setting her on fire, and then dumping her body in the streets of an up scale oakland neighborhood. salvador and hector garcia were charged with murder. the charges carry special circumstances that would mean they are eligible for the death penalty or a life in prison. she was the mother of aed to bler. they are gang members who were and rifted on tuesday, several days after police were led on high-speed chases. >>> bay chair children who rely on the big sisters, big brother

tomorrow. the air quality management district is expecting unhealthy conditions. if you are big 4th of july plans, prepare for the heat. lisa is here with exactly what you can expect today. >> hi, carolyn. for the 4th of july, tomorrow we are expecting patchy fog. if you are headed into san francisco, a bit of a relief tomorrow night. as for today we have the heat advisory in effect because already temperatures are warmer than we were yesterday. it's 63 in fremont. 60 redwood city. just a couple 50s and already 71 in antioch. so numbers this morning anywhere from two to five degrees warmer than yesterday at this time. so we are starting out warmer. in fact, right now in the upper levels of the atmosphere, above 2,000 feet, we are talking 80 degrees. so we will be look at the heat advisory everywhere except for the coast. even though our coast will top out today warmer than yesterday, around 70 degrees. but we will be flirting with 100 in some of our inland valleys. a look at the full forecast for the entire bay area coming up in a bit. >> thank you, lisa. in other news this morning, san jos

shore freeway. as you approach the big bridge. and in san francisco a little windy out there. cameras bobbing around out there. do be aware if you are going eastbound on to the bay bridge there are three lanes that are shut down. all right here's a look at our maps we do have a traffic collision. this is at 19th avenue. we don't have much information on it at this point. it shouldn't be causing too many delays at this hour. let's head over to the desk. >>> this morning the city of oakland formerly launches a new campaign to fight crime. ktvu kraig debro tells us that the city's fruitvale district will be blanketed with crime cameras. >> reporter: that is right. six blocks on international boulevard will be covered. in april of this year a long- time resident of fruitvale was killed. later today they will announce a plan to prevent others from becoming victims. city leaders have approved the purchase of 30 surveillance cameras for fruitvale. they already have video surveillance cameras. the difference is some of the cameras will be placed inside businesses as well as outside. the momen

that traffic looks very nice through downtown. it's 5:08, let's go with steve. >> sal. >> yes, sir. >> big trade for the giants are you happy. >> good, good bat to have. temperatures yesterday warmed up inland by the coast, just that fog hanging on. so, inland areas it burns off and it's sunny and we warm up. but i think we topped out yesterday or we will just carry it into today. fog, and it's clear, even in areas that warm up into the 90s they get up into the upper 50s. we'll have that july spread on the temps about 35 degrees for some between some on the coast and some inland. high pressure continues to hang out but it's not going to make it too far to the coast. it's not going any where. the system that was in the pacific northwest kicks off. that allow it is high to move in but looks like things have stabilized here. low mid- to upper, 260. west southwest at 12 at fairfield. nothing hollowing it's very close to what we had yesterday. maybe just a hint stronger. so i don't think temperatures warm up any more than they did yesterday. if you're away from the coast it'll be warm to hot. i

in the month of june, after a big job loss in may on the other, unemployment is up, after months of falling. >> led by silicon valley high tech industry, lawyers added nearly 29,000 jobs for june. the best one-month gain since february. the jump was a surprise considering how week the national labor market is, only 18,000 jobs were created in the same period. >> they need to do probably at least double what we've been doing so far. just to sort of see a real recovery. >> and more than two million people are still out of work. california lost nearly 1.4 million jobs and only 16% have come back. despite job growth, unemployment remained high in california, and the jobless rate ticked up for the first time since september to 11.8% last month, higher from may when it was 11.7%. and it's better than a year ago when it was at 12.4%. and an increase in unemployment rate with job growth means more people enter bid restarting their job search or moving into the state. >> and this is is a job expansion underway. not enough to get news a job growth and job recovery. >> high school graduate was one of

. the california highway patrol says a flat tire may of caused a big rig to lose their grip, causing a huge traffic mess. it was carrying a portable building. took four horses to clear it above 5th street on the approach to the bay bridge. it backed up traffic for miles. no one was hurt. >>> mexican trucks cruising american highways, the deal signed by ray lahood had a trade agreement enabling mexican trucks unrestricted access to u.s. streets. since this act went into effect mexican trucks have been permitted in a buffer zone of the border state. >>> figures out today show the number of americans seeking unemployment hit the lowest level in two months. applications for benefits dropped to 418,000 last week. down 14,000 from the previous week. many say claims need to drop below 400,000 for there to be a mark improvement in the unemployment rate. jobs report pushed the stocks higher. gaining 93 points closing within 90 points of the high it reached in april. tech stops including apple led the nasdaq higher. it rose 38 points. san jose treasure of technology, the tech museum fallen victim to computer

a big clean up to do. a fire broke out at daly city's skyline elementary school on christian avenue. this happened about 11:30 last night. just look at the pictures. the portable classroom went up in flames. the damage includes the building itself, everything inside, books, chairs, audio- visual equipment. took firefighters about 15 minutes to put it out. authorities don't know what started the fire but it apparently started outside of the portable building. no word of any injuries and students by the way return to school on august 17th. >>> meantime firefighters say an overnight house fire in san francisco caused about $350,000 damage. this fire started just before 2:30 this morning at a home on melrose avenue. the flames then spread to a second house. took firefighters about 20 minutes to contain that one alarm fire. no injuries have been reported. authorities think the fire started in the living room of the first house, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation. >>> the book written by kidnap victim jaycee dugard does not go on sale for another day but it is already

warmer inland on the weekend but not a big jump up. temperatures i think will just recover and get back into the 80s. by the coast i still think 50s and 60s. system moved into the pacific northwest actually settled into oregon and the southern end of that has just been sweeping in low clouds. you can see how they bank up. they'll be a decrease in the low cloud deck because it's getting so cool aloft and also the inland temperatures have been plunging there's really not a lot to support it but it's still there. and every wind direction is almost out of the west or southwest. the delta breeze howling all the way to sacramento. two 60s, san jose and san jose state. but upper 50s and mid-50s. that system continues to carve itself out right out of the portland. for this time of year that's an extremely impressive system to make it that far and have this much of an impact. low overcast drizzle fog temperatures held in check cool for july no doubt about that. today, tomorrow bottom out and then a slight increase friday as we head into the weekend. still lots of 70s in areas that should be uppe

. the roof started burning at 11:10 at alcatraz and king streets. it was an enormous fire. big flames coming out of that roof. it's too early to stay whether fireworks were to blame. check out these images from over in brentwood, two homes caught fire. firefighters think it was the barbecue grill, no one was hurt. the victims from one of homes had only been there about three weeks had just moved in. they had unfortunately been through this before. >> very scary. we were able to get out in time. we know the neighbors were able to help us. it was a second fire we've had. so it burned down and the fire department responded really fast >> reporter: just incredible. now check out what they were dealing with out in the county. east contra costa county, lots of grass fires, half a dozen. the skies lit up with illegal fireworks so a lot of them on the ground there were a lost fires. this is in bay point. no injuries were reported from these fires and no structures were burned but again, firefighters say it's too early whether fireworks was to blame but it would be quite a coincidence that it just ha

be a very big deal in the near future. good evening, i'm dana king. >> and i'm ken. a peaceful protest, this was not. demonstrators unhappy with the police killing of a teenage convict turned to vandalism and violence tonight. dozens of people have been arrested. one demonstrator even attacked our news crew while reporter elizabeth cook and photo journalist patrick sadia were trying to get the protester's side of the story. you're okay tonight, elizabeth, but tell us what happened. >> well, we started out following the protesters and the protest ended here, but that's right, when we are at the corner of 16th and mission street, we were trying to interview one of the protesters and as you can see from the video here, the protester tried -- another protest came up behind our photo journalist and tried to grab his camera. now we continued rolling and were able to catch the aftermath of the suspect or the woman who tried to steal the camera running away and also the short brawl that came about with protesters and police. now that wasn't the only thing we found today. we saw smoke flairs a

in downtown oakland at fifth. in the midst of what is like, like traffic there's a report that there's a big rig that maybe one aside blocking lanes of freeway. not even with that, the chp has said it will not lift the restriction for big rigs on i-580 because they do not expect even with the lanes blocked that there will be a major delay on the nimitz north bound. again, the traffic loads are so like, and the details are little sketchy. if we do not know how many lanes are blocked, but the first report indicates that some lanes will be blocked what the big rig reported on its side on the nimitz freeway north bound through downtown oakland. presently you can see with green showing on the road centers, there is no back up. from here will get a quick bridge to check up, expect a like condition that the bay bridge. that is exactly what we have, for the san mateo bridge is problem free. this almost like the east bound direction in fact in a little lighter than on a normal day. your ride to the golden gate bridge only three lanes are available in the southbound direction. they're holding three on
